Armando Morales (1927-2011) is a major Nicaraguan painter of the 20th century, renowned for the richness of his palette and the sensuality of his compositions. Trained partly in the United States, he developed a singular style blending classical European influences with Latin American modernity. His work explores recurring themes such as the female figure, silent interiors and still lifes. Her still lifes occupy an essential place in her production: far from being mere decorative exercises, they are constructed with great formal rigor and particular attention to light and texture. Fruit, objects and fabrics take on an almost carnal presence, revealing a tension between intimacy and monumentality. These compositions also reflect his interest in Western pictorial tradition, which he reinterprets with a contemporary sensibility.
