ALBUMS] - BRIDIER, Louis - Approximately 54 pen-and-ink drawings mounted in an album (Paris, c. 1893). In-8 oblong (23 X 15 cm), pl. plum morocco c. 1840, boards decorated with gilt scrolls and thread surrounding a cold plate, smooth spine decorated, gilt tr. All drawings are dated from 1862 to 1893. They are signed L. B. (Louis Bridier), born in 1830, author of numerous playlets and monologues, some of which are indicated here by a drawing: Le Chalet (1883), L'Album (1884), Au Louvre (1891). He captured numerous types during his travels in France and Italy. His style is reminiscent of Töpffer. One of the drawings shows Hassan, Ferdinand de Lesseps' drogman (1889). Bridier was secretary to his son Charles-Aimé. In 1900, he published Une famille française, les De Lesseps. An album (22 X 15 cm) containing three drawings and a few examples of ancient calligraphy is included in a slightly similar binding - an album (26 X 19 cm) with a mosaic frame on the boards.
