(table), marbled calf, ornate ribbed spine, pastiche binding in 18th century style. Unknown to Saffroy in this form. The general title and intermediate titles are calligraphic. The burin-engraved coats of arms, originally printed on large sheets (maps), have been cut out, finely colored and assembled in five distinct parts: Noms, qualitez et armes des gouverneurs, capitaines et lieutenants-généraux de la Ville, Prévôté et Vicomté de Paris. The chronology of Provost Marshals ends in 1734 with Jean-Baptiste de Santeuil, the most recent date in the book. There are a few copies of a similar composition, sometimes bound in morocco. One of them, like this one, includes a "Catalogue des Cartes de Blasons des Seigneurs Chevillard Père et fils. On the flyleaf, a vestige of the original binding, the coat of arms of Reynaud de Monts, knight of Malta from 1746 to 1753 (OHR pl. 1786, variant). Ex-libris Le Féron d'Eterpigny (19th c.)
