Jean-François LELEU, (1729-1807), received master in 1764.
Jean-François Leleu was a French cabinetmaker trained in OEben's workshop and received his master's diploma in 1764.
Influenced by OEben, he established himself as the most neo-classical cabinetmaker of his time, and made a name for himself with commissions from Mme du Barry, including the Pavillon de Louveciennes, and from the Princes de Condé (commode du prince de Condé).
Condé (the Prince de Condé's commode in the Louvre, the Duchesse de Bourbon's demi-commode in the Petit Trianon). At the end of his career, his son-in-law Stadler took over the workshop, enabling Leleu to enjoy lasting success, unlike his rival
rival Riesener.
