VIVIEN Renée (Pauline Tarn, dite) [London, 1877 - Paris, 190 - Lot 203
VIVIEN Renée (Pauline Tarn, dite) [London, 1877 - Paris, 1909], French-speaking English writer.
Set of 14 autograph letters signed, addressed to Kérimé. [From 1906 to 1908]; in-8° format.
The 1906 and 1907 letters are all similar in content: Renée Vivien poetically declares her love for Kérimé. She evokes distant memories of happy times spent together. In her dreams, all is sweetness and voluptuousness. The pretty Oriental princess is too far away. She can't visit her as she'd like. But she reproaches him for his long silences, with a touch of jealousy. The love she dreamed of for two years came to an end at the end of 1907. She took on a new friend. In 1908 (the last two letters), she attempted to end her life at her Paris home. After this failed attempt, she died on November 18, 1909, in a state of physical and moral decline, at the age of 32.
