SAND George (Aurore Dupin, baronne Dudevant, dite) [Paris, 1 - Lot 193
SAND George (Aurore Dupin, baronne Dudevant, dite) [Paris, 1804 - Nohant, 1876], French novelist.
Autograph letter signed, addressed. Nohant, January 15, 1866 with wax seal.
"Monsieur Calamatta asks me on your behalf for letters for my friends in journalism, I have very few. [...] I regret that you are not happy with the article I wrote so quickly, and leaving aside all occupation, on the virgin in the chair. Mr Calamatta almost reproached me for the opinion you expressed to him and told me that you hesitated to publish it, because I allowed myself a slight criticism of Raphaël. That's being too demanding, and if it weren't for a very dear and ill-informed friend, I'd take the article back and not bother again."
