TELEGRAPHY. [FOY Alphonse [1796 - 1888], French telegraph administrator].
Set of 2 signed pieces:
- Telegraph dispatch signed. Perpignan, June 6, 1843; 1 page folio. "Valence on the 2nd, Narvaez left Marvière on the 1st to go to Segorbe & from there to Teruel. There are 12 battalions & 900 horses. The Regent occupied Albacete & Chinchilla. Barcelona on the 4th: Sésane was in Lérida on the 2nd; summoned to give his opinion by an officer from Serrano, he replied that it would be decided by cannon fire."
- Letter signed, addressed to M. Laserrie. Paris, December 6, 1852; 1 folio page. Concerning an error in a telegraphic dispatch: "Allow me first of all, Sir, to point out that the person to whom you delivered your dispatch on rue Feydeau is not an agent of the telegraphic administration, and so this person was obliged to send your message in his own name. If your dispatch did not bring the result you expected, the main reason is undoubtedly that it reached its destination, signed by a person unknown to your correspondent."
