THE DEFENDER OF THE CONSTITUTION BY ROBESPIERRE - Lot 53
THE DEFENDER OF THE CONSTITUTION BY ROBESPIERRE Copy of the Defender of the Constitution by Maximilien Robespierre. N°1, Exposition de mes principes. "It is the constitution that I want to defend, the constitution as it is." Page 37, M. Robespierre's response to the speeches of Messrs. Brissot and Gaudet. "I have not come to occupy you here, whatever may be said of it, with the interests of a few individuals or with my own; it is the public cause that is the sole object of this whole dispute." Attached is the report on the principles of Revolutionary Government, made on behalf of the Comité de Salut Public, by Maximilien Robespierre. "Success puts weak souls to sleep; it spurs strong souls on."
