Taxile Maximin DOAT (1851 - 1938) - Lot 90
Taxile Maximin DOAT (1851 - 1938) "Embracing putti. Three rectangular plates in polychrome enameled porcelain with paste-on-paste decoration on a lightly chased ground (tiny edge chips). Unsigned, marked on the back "n°2 18-X celadon-21 rose-A Sèvres 1885" and "sur dégourdi". 13 x 18 cm History: according to the archivist of the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, "Taxile Doat's work records for 1885 are too imprecise to allow definite identification. However, in February, they record: "3 days of plate samples for the AB 2nd vase (the golden apples)", as well as a number of other samples" (MNS, Arch., Registre Va77, fol. 85). According to Taxile Doat's personal archives, this Pommes d'or vase was acquired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
