RISLER Édouard [Baden-Baden, 1873 - Paris, 1929], French pia - Lot 283
RISLER Édouard [Baden-Baden, 1873 - Paris, 1929], French pianist. Set of autographed letters, visiting cards and postcards addressed to M. Alfred Cortot. 2 letters from 1917; 4 pages in-8°. Mostly about concerts. "Bravo for the truly marvelous performance. The age of Mlle Brard is astounding, which I had the pleasure of hearing yesterday, and in which I vainly looked for an imperfection. I also had the pleasure of meeting Madame Cortot there, and I told her that I didn't dare come to see you, knowing you were so busy and besieged by so many solicitors. [...] So I see as a possibility of assignment the theater in the Armies, or else a deferment for propaganda abroad, because emotionally I'd like to give concerts next season in Switzerland, Italy and Spain. If I have to wait until the last moments, there's nothing I can do". Enclosed: a typed bill addressed to M. Risler.
