FRIESZ Émile-Othon [Le Havre, 1879 - Paris, 1949], French pa - Lot 111
FRIESZ Émile-Othon [Le Havre, 1879 - Paris, 1949], French painter and draughtsman. Autograph letter signed, addressed to Alfred Cortot. November 11, 1945, 4 pages in-8°. With stamped envelope. Beautiful letter in which Friesz explains to Cortot that due to his illness (diphtheria) he is still unable to receive Cortot and his family. "I was working in Honfleur - a spared town opposite my hometown of Le Havre, abominably massacred - when I was assaulted by the enemy. when I was assailed by the filthy microbe of diphtheria".
