MICHELET Jules [Paris, 1798 - Hyères, 1874], French writer and historian. Autograph letter signed. Hyères (Var) 8 J. 1858; 4 pages in-8°. Michelet recommends reading a book written by a peasant. "I would also have liked to recommend an exquisite little book that you received as a souvenir from Eugène Noël. The author is a peasant who lives 4 leagues from Rouen from a dyeing mill. I'm wrong to say who lives, because this mill is perishing.
