BARBEY D'AUREVILLY Jules Amédée [Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, 1 - Lot 2
BARBEY D'AUREVILLY Jules Amédée [Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, 1808 - Paris, 1889], French writer. Autograph letter signed, addressed to M. Peladan. Paris, August 21, 1884; 1 page in-8° in red ink. The writer complains about his liver, which makes him suffer horribly. "Have you ever had a bad liver? I spent the whole year without an attack of this horrible ailment, but probably the heat but probably the heat of which we are the victims has awakened the ferocious, enraged beast that goes into my immoral games. Since the beginning of the month, I've found myself unable to write your preface, but as the dreadful pain has given way to Opium, I'm better, if a little stupefied.
