Revues et corrigez sur l'original par un docte personnage de ce temps en la langue grecque, et representez en taille douce en cette nouvelle édition avec des épigrammes sur chacun d'iceux par Artus Thomas sieur d'Embry. Second issue of one of the principal books representing the Ecole de Fontainebleau (the date on the title 1614 has been changed to 1615, but the "achevé d'imprimer" is still dated January 2, 1614). This gallery of imaginary paintings provided the pretext for painter Antoine Caron to compose an impressive series of Baroque images. Republished several times (1617, 1619, 1630, 1637), these plates served as models for many artists. They were engraved by Jaspar Isac, Léon Gaultier, Thomas de Leu and others who remain anonymous. Handwritten bookplate on title page: ''Des livres de Claude Expilly 1619. du don de Madame L'Angelier. Engraved portrait by Thomas de Leu, often used by Claude Expilly as a bookplate. Claude Expilly (1561-1636), Advocate General at the Grenoble Parliament (1604) and President of the Dauphiné Parliament (1616), had published a collection of poems dedicated to Gabrielle d'Estrées with Abel L'Angelier in 1596.
