Dr. Robert Forestier was one of the doctors at the sanatorium of La Musse, near Evreux where Chaissac treated his tuberculosis in 1938, before being sent to the sanitary village of Clairvivre, in the Dordogne, where he stayed until the beginning of May 1942, then moving to the Vendée with his teacher wife. We have a lot of changes here since the war, we are crammed into two floors of the hotel and some pavilions, Clairvivre is now fully populated. He works in the locksmith's workshop workshop but without any real disposition or taste, and would prefer to be a dishwasher, having always liked washing dishes. "I sometimes have moments of doldrums when you can only eat noodles, only drink water, so I sometimes have moments of dread when one can only eat noodles, only drink water, as well as not being able to enjoy anything else material.
