Stele with arched top inscribed with the name of HERES daugh - Lot 126

Stele with arched top inscribed with the name of HERES daughter of PADY AMON, himself son of HOR. The young woman is depicted standing on the right, facing the god Osiris, wearing the solar disk and carrying the farming tools. The way the dress is represented is influenced by the Theban canons of beauty. Between the two figures is a text in hieroglyphic characters on four columns and surmounted by a solar disk flanked by two uraei. The lateral sides represent doorways (the doors to heaven?). Stuccoed and painted wood. The reverse side is left blank. Frank break in the upper part and minor wear, otherwise very well preserved. Limestone deposit. Egypt, Thebes, 3rd Intermediate Period, perhaps Dynasty XXV. H. 25 cm ; W 22.5 cm ; D 2 cm. On the back is an old handwritten label : " very beautiful Egyptian stele, .... Bought at Delcourt in Paris/ 1000 f in 1930 value 1950/ 3000 ".
