ALGERIA] DEITTE, Adolphe - (Album of drawings on Algeria). n. l. n. d. (ca. 1850). In-8 oblong, 18 plates (drawings mostly glued together in two signed shades), spine cardboard, spine with small lacks. The author was a guard of the First Class Engineer and reported a six-year experience in Algeria in a book published under the title : Pensées scientifiques, philosophiques et religieuses d'un Arabe de l'Algérie (Paris, Garnier Frères, 1853) where the frontispiece reproduces one of the drawings in the album. The album is composed as follows: 1st plate ? - 2 : port of Mers-el-Kébir - 3 : nursery of Misserghuïn - 4 : pass of the mountain of Santon - 5 : marabout of Santon - 6 : residence of the former Beys of Oran - 7 : view of the navy in Oran - 8 : view of Oran taken from the Château-Neuf - 9 : view taken in the ravine of Oran - 10 : palm trees in the Oran ravine - 11 : view of Oran taken from the ravine - 12 : view of the port of Arzeu - 13 : La Macta bridge - 14 : Mostaganem and the road to Arzeu - 15 : the stork tower in Mostaganem - 16 : the Pirate's ruin - 17 : two portraits of men - 18 : ruins in a landscape. The author is not quoted by Tailliart in his bibliography of Algeria in French literature.
