[Belgique] - Lot 85
[Belgique] Historical, Political and Critical Letters from an impartial Observer, containing probable knowledge about the source of the new troubles that have been stirring the Belgian Provinces since the return of the Government in 1790, up to the time of the death of Emperor Leopold II. London, 1792-1794. 5 parts in one vol. in-8, 64 pp.; (1) VI, 55 (1) pp.; (7) 107 pp.; 20 pp.; (2) 110 pp., fawn-cornered half-bottom, spine ribbed with gold thread, small snag in lower headdress. Not in Martin & Walter or Monglond. Contains the seven letters addressed to the "nation of Belgium", and the Prospectus or Foreword to the table of emigration of the French royalists (20) pp. No doubt the "Impartial Observer" wishes to reply to Pierre Jean-Baptiste Chaussard, appointed commissioner of the executive power in Belgium in 1792, who will be noted for his fanaticism. M & W quote from the latter: From Germany and the House of Austria. Paris, 1792. (7088) - Historical and political memoirs on the revolution of Belgium and the country of Liège in 1793. Paris, Buisson, 1793.
