- "Many thanks for the lively and prompt response to my inquiry. I was quite well informed about the rich activities of your late brother (the only thing that was new to me was your statement that he also worked as a playwright). I also own his book "Origin of Tragedy" with his handwritten dedication to my father. I also remember him quite well, since he often came to visit us. I sincerely regretted to have to take from your lines, class he no longer dwells among the living. With thanks again for your kindness and the best recommendations. -"Allow me to address you with a question, the answer to which will certainly not cause you any trouble. I am currently busy with the preparations for the publication of the correspondence between Hugo von Hofmannsthal and my father, Arthur Schnitzler, which will be published in autumn by S. Fischer Verlag, Frankfurt am Mai n. In the notes to this exchange of letters, naturally numerous persons mentioned by the two correspondents must be identified, indicating their respective biographical data. Among these persons is also your brother, Alfred Winterstein. His year of birth - 1885 - could be determined without difficulty, but I have not yet been able to find out whether he is still alive or, if unfortunately not, when he died ? It would be very kind of you, Minister, if you would be so kind as to answer this question and I thank you in advance for your help in this matter
