WESEL, Abraham van - Tractatus de Remissione Mercedis propter Bellum, Inundationem aquarum, & Sterilitatem. Amsterdam, Henri & Théodore Boom, 1675. In-12, (13) ff, 166 pp, (8) ff, contemporary brown marbled calf, coats of arms in center of boards, spine ribbed and ornamented, headpieces missing. First edition. Wesel (1633-1680) was a Councillor at the Court of Viane in the Seigniory of Utrecht and a tax lawyer at the Sovereign Council of the Province of Utrecht. This work was written on the occasion of an ordinance published by the States of Utrecht in 1674, concerning the misery caused in the country by the war of 1672. With the coat of arms of Lefèvre de Caumartin (1653-1720) Intendant des Finances and Conseiller d'Etat (O-H-R 651 fer n°5). He left a remarkable library, both in terms of the choice of books and the beauty of the bindings.
