Telemachus and Calypso, circa 1850 Folded fan, the wallpaper leaf of a warrior in cuirass in conversation with Calypso lunching under a canopy. The wise, bearded Mentor is pensive on the left. Nymphs on either side. Reverse in painted skin of a woman tending a fire pot. White mother-of-pearl mounting, engraved and silvered with birds and flowers. Metal clasp. H.t. 28 cm-H.f. 13.3 cm (wear, restorations, small stains)
