La visite à la nourrice, France, circa 1780 Folded fan, the silk leaf painted with two bouquets of flowers in the side panels. In the center, a family reunion scene. High society parents visit their child who has been placed with a nurse in the country. The reverse White mother-of-pearl mounting, engraved, silvered and gilded with a country trophy including a hood, rake, birdcage and watering can. The plumes are adorned, one with a small mirror and the other with a sheaf of wheat on a mother-of-pearl background. Height 28 cm (major cuts) In a box.
