Albin SALAÜN (1876-1951) Monument to the Defense of the Suez Canal Set of three prints from the 1930s, captioned on verso. 23 x 28.8 cm (two) 22 x 28 cm (two) Tack holes on one. History: Suez Canal War Memorial is the work of French sculptor Raymond DELMARRE and architect Michel ROUX - SPITZ, inaugurated in 1930. The monument is located in Ismailia, Egypt. "It is the work of French sculptor Raymond Delamarre and Michel Roux-Spitz, with the participation of Emmanuel Guérin and Italo Santelli." "Made of granite, the monument consists of two huge 40-metre-high pylons (symbolizing the riverbanks) separated by a space (symbolizing the canal). Two statues stand at the base of the monument."
