Peeping Tom" chair in molded, carved and gray relacquered walnut; the beveled back has an armrest with detached columns and a lyre; rosette dice; fluted tapered legs. Stamped by Dupain and Courtois. Louis XVI period. Upholstery with alternating bands of flower garlands. Nicolas Simon COURTOIS, carpenter received master on November 19, 1766. Adrien-Pierre DUPAIN, carpenter received master on December 10, 1772. H. 100 cm - W. 55 cm - D. 58 cm Provenance : Collection of Monsieur and Madame A., in their Hôtel particulier near the Champs-Élysées; By descent to the current owner. There are two stamps on one piece of furniture for two main reasons: firstly, an order placed with one carpenter was subcontracted to another, and secondly, a restoration was carried out on the seat.
