Quefféllec often complains to his dear friend about having too much work to answer his mail and having to stay in Paris. "As a Breton, - I was born in Brest, - and as a former teacher, I take the liberty of sending you a small collection of verses that I have just published, and that I would be happy if it pleased you, in spite of many weaknesses. I have no doubt that you will discover in it more than appearances, the race."
