BERTRAND Henri-Gatien, count [Châteauroux,... - Lot 5 - Oger - Blanchet
BERTRAND Henri-Gatien, count [Châteauroux, 1773 - id., 1844], French general, companion of Napoleon at St. Helena. Autograph letter signed, addressed to General de Montholon. Châteauroux September 29, 1839. 1 page in-4° with postal marks. LAS glued on passe partout and typed description glued at the bottom of the page. Your letter of the 14th of this month, addressed to Pau, then sent back to Toulouse, arrived here in the last few days. I will associate myself wholeheartedly with any honorable testimony for Mr. Laffitte, who has nobly contributed to the completion of the affairs of the estate of St. Helene. I learned at Isle Martinique with great interest of the marriage of your charming daughter. I am assured that your son is also very well married. Please receive my sincere congratulations and send them to Madame de Montholon. I hope to see you again in Paris in the first days of October and to reiterate to you the affectionate feelings of an old comrade.
