Dominique Pergaut PERGAULT (Vacqueville 1729... - Lot 154 - Oger - Blanchet
Dominique Pergaut PERGAULT (Vacqueville 1729 - Lunéville 1808) Bouquet of tulips On its original canvas. 58,5 x 46 cm Signed and dated lower right Pergaut pinxit 1762. Dominique PERGAULT was born in Lorraine. After a stay in Rome, he was appointed landscape painter to the house of Duke Stanislas Leszczynski. Unfairly ignored, his paintings still show a great mastery of trompe l'oeil and still life. With delicacy and moderation, his subtle and poetic touch plunges us into a universe of restraint: the 18th century in the provinces far from Paris, far from the excited ideas of the Age of Enlightenment. The Nancy Museum of Fine Arts presents two works by Dominique PERGAULT.
