MARIETTE, Pierre-Jean - Description of the works that preceded, accompanied and followed the casting in bronze of the equestrian statue of Louis XV the Beloved. Drawn up on the memoirs of Mr. Lempereur, former alderman. Paris, P. G. Le Mercier, 1768. In-folio, IX, 166 pp. 59 plates, 4 of which folded, contemporary fawn calf, triple gilt thread on boards, spine ribbed and decorated, headbands worn, spine rubbed, hinges partly split. COHEN 684. Printed on strong paper of Holland. 58 pl. grav. by Pierre Patte and one by B. L. Prévost, vignette, bandeaux grav. by A. de Saint-Aubin after Gravelot. The sculpture is by Edme Bouchardon. This description served as a reference for the bronze casting trades.
