JUVENAL & PERSE - Satyrae. Paris, Typographia Regia, 1644. In-folio, 179 pp. with Persian satires beginning on p. 151, contemporary tan calf, triple gilt thread on boards, emblem in center repeated at corners, spine ornamented, two emblems mutilated on second board, hinges split, headpieces worn, spine lacking, qqs. epid. Printed in Roman characters said to be of the University attributed to Claude Garamond. It was conducted by Sebastien Cramoisy, director of the royal printing house of the Louvre since its foundation in 1640. Engraved headband and two culs-de-lampe. Ex. of the famous bibliophile Hilaire-Bernard de Longepierre (1659-1721) bearing his emblem of the Golden Fleece.
