VERNE Jules [Nantes, 1828 - Amiens, 1905], French novelist. - Lot 61
VERNE Jules [Nantes, 1828 - Amiens, 1905], French novelist. Autograph letter signed. "Cap d'Antibes, Wednesday"; 1 1/2 page in-8°. "I must give you some news of our affair before my return. I am really delighted with this work which is being done in the most beautiful country in the world, and you will see what part the collaboration of M. d'Ennery will have brought in the play. It is no longer the book cut into scenes, which will be given to the public; but a very cheerful, very interesting play, and in two or three points extremely dramatic. I repeat, I am really delighted with all this and M. d'Ennery has the greatest confidence in the result of our common work. Besides, he will talk to you about it in Paris where he intends to go around January. You can count on the complete piece being delivered to you in the course of April. Before that, you will know which sets have been chosen and as there will be a lot to find in this report, they can be studied in advance. You will find in the play absolutely new things, which are not in the book, not only characters and facts, but also countries which, we believe, will pique public curiosity. I will be in Paris next week, taking with me part of the detailed script, and it is possible that I will be obliged to return here later. Finally we will see."
