APOLLINAIRE Guillaume (Wilhelm Apollinaris... - Lot 3 - Oger - Blanchet
APOLLINAIRE Guillaume (Wilhelm Apollinaris de Kostrowitzky, dit) [Rome, 1880 - Paris, 1918], French poet. Autograph letter signed with his initials, addressed to Maître José Théry. July 13, 1915; 1 page in-16 with address on the back (stamped Trésor et Postes 138). The lawyer José Théry, had defended him in 1911, at the time of his indictment for handling stolen objects in the Louvre, a case which had ended with a dismissal. "It is with great pleasure that I read your article in the Mercure. Please write me a note. Give me your news. About your charming wife. Also about Georges Courteline and his wife. [Here I am, a cavalryman, and for a long time already on the front, I have changed sectors several times. The one where I am is horrible. If they let us stay there during the winter, it will be cheerful, in any case at the moment the morale is good and I am delighted and always in a good mood. Except that some letters from the rear have the gift of exasperating me and then I sting one of these cockroaches that last a day. I sleep in [] a hole, a pit covered with logs and dirt."
