Swallows and carps, c. 1880

A pair of ovoid vases with tubular necks on ring heels. Opaline glass proofs with polychrome enamelled decoration enhanced by gilding.

History:

A pair of vases with similar Japanese decoration are in the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass in New

York (inv. 2012.3.3.B).

The vases with Japanese decoration appeared on the first stands of the Cristallerie Baccarat at the Paris World Fair in 1867.
