BOFA Gus (Gustave Blanchot, dit) [Brive-la-Gaillarde, 1883 - Aubagne, 1968], dessinateur et illustrateur français
2 autograph letters signed, in pencil, addressed to Doctor Hodel: - Gros Mesnil by St Romain de Colbosc; 2 pages in-4°. "This address is there for decoration only, to show you we're not in Paris. I know you don't like to write very much and only want to say hello while I'm at leisure to do so. I gave us a month to relax because I had been working a lot lately to do my book, precisely for this purpose, and especially because my wife's flu, if there was a flu, called for this convalescence. We are here, by time, age and circumstance, wonderfully alone in the calm, silence and humidity." - Gros Mesnil, October 10; 2 pages in-4°. "I hope we'll see each other soon. I'm trying right now to enjoy the last of the autumn suns, which are usually lost to everyone when the holidays are over. So far, the hunt hasn't been brilliant. I think I started the experiment a little early - yet today and a few days before the sky looked blue, the sun was warm and as the trees and grass stayed green, we had the cheap illusion of a somewhat gloomy June rather than a well-preserved October."
