Marie HAZARD Clay, 2021 Serigraphy on Rivoli... - Lot 36 - Oger - Blanchet
Marie HAZARD Clay, 2021 Serigraphy on Rivoli 300 g. 70 x 50 cm Edition of 60. Marie Hazard. Courtesy Galerie Mitterrand. Photo Aurélien Mole After studying at the Atelier de Sèvres, Marie Hazard moved to London where she joined Central Saint-Martins, specializing in textiles. In a world where textiles are most often associated with industrial production, Marie Hazard advocates slowness by returning to the fundamentals of a craft practice. Between painting, sculpture and installation, Marie Hazard's woven works call for a great meticulousness that does not detract from the spontaneity of her work. She is freely inspired by cultural sociology and in particular by fashion, whose historical development, uses and techniques she follows. Beyond these plastic qualities, Marie Hazard uses the technique of weaving as a narrative medium. Weaving refers to the making of fabric but also in a broader sense to the elaboration of a weft and a language. It is this weave that we find in the silkscreens presented here.
