Small accidents and restorations. Louis XVI period. H. 195 cm - W. 135 cm - D. 42 cm Comparable large cylinder secretaries with three drawers above the cylinder, topped with leaves or a slatted curtain were made in Nantes around 1785-1790 and are sometimes attributed to Claude Javoy (L. Malfoy, Le meuble de port, Paris, 1992, p. 127). Claude Javoy was a carpenter living in Paris until 1783, when he moved to Nantes where he made furniture in the Parisian quality which earned him a lawsuit with the corporation of Nantes carpenters and cabinetmakers.
