BILAIN, Ant.] - Tracté des droits de la reine... - Lot 200 - Oger - Blanchet
BILAIN, Ant.] - Tracté des droits de la reine très chrestienne sur divers Estats de la monarchie d'Espagne. According to the copy of the Royal Printing Office in Paris, (Amsterdam, Elzevier), 1667 (1678). In-12, 318 pp, (3) ff, yellowed paper, early 19th century long-grained bas. mar., gilt garland on boards, smooth spine decorated. SHF 2940. This treatise was attributed either to the lawyer Antoine Bilain (died 1672), or to Turenne's secretary Duhan, or to Guy Joly: it was revised, on Colbert's orders, by Chapelain and Charles Perrault. Concerns the rights of devolution on the Spanish Low Countries of the Queen of France. This treaty made an enormous impression and gave rise to a lively controversy, both in France and abroad.
