In-4, (2) ff., XXII, 643 pp., qs. russet, qs. ff. yellowed, tear in the outer margin of p. 441 restored with wax without damage to the text, fawn calf marbled on the spine, spine with nerves decorated, inf. headdress rubbed with small lack, qs. blunt corners. TCH III, 672. SMITH 127, E2. Second and only edition still allowed. It follows the text corrected after the second censorship of the original edition which in this form could finally be revealed to the public (July 1758). Still provided with the privilege, it was probably published in September 1758 and was therefore authorized for a short time. In fact, the work was condemned in November by the Archbishop of Paris, and at the beginning of 1759 successively by the Pope, the Parliament of Paris, the Faculty of Theology. On February 10 the book was burned.
